Review: Dior Diorskin Forever Foundation

My favourite (and most worrying) time of year is when my foundation is about to run out. I spend ages going into Boots, Selfridges and House of Fraser to see what is both new on the market and also what seems to work the best for me. This time the Dior Diorskin Forever Foundation  =(£33.00/30ml) was the product I picked up since I was looking for something with slightly less coverage than my NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation! This is why I love it...

Firstly, can we appreciate the beautiful packing that the foundation is encased in? I love the frosted glass with the silver detailing, it looks and feels luxury.
Once pumped out the product itself is really nice - it looks thick, however it feels like a whipped mousse - in that it's super lightweight. It's so different and totally not what I was expecting, but in a good way.  In terms of application, I like to use this with my Real Techniques sculpting brush and dot the product all over my face and blend downwards to get the coverage I want from it. On the skin it feels super lightweight and just breathable, which is a major selling point for me.
For me, the coverage is a solid medium. I've had a better coverage before however the reason I bought this was to be a nice everyday foundation and so I am still happy with this product. For anyone who prefers sheer coverage, this product will be a good perfecting foundation!

In terms of longevity, this does last on my skin all day. However I do still need to powder periodically, but in this foundations defence, I have to powder my face after all foundations so it's not a deal breaker. What I particularly enjoy about this foundation is the refined look of my pores. Usually foundation makes the gaping holes in my face look like craters, but this somehow smoothes over my pores in the same fashion as a primer. Any foundation that helps my skin look smoother is a good foundation in my books.
Another major selling point of this foundation is the enhanced sunscreen. This product has SPF 35 and PA +++ which is one of the highest levels of UVA protection. This is why this foundation is a very good daily foundation, because it's both perfecting and protecting your skin.

In terms of shades, this product has a range of 18 shades. This shade is 13/18 which is '040 Honey Beige. I'm quite tan so I'm happy with the representation of shades. The undertones of these foundations seems quite neutral though, at least compared to NARS. So this foundation matches my face quite well but not my body, as my body is more tanned. So I would take that into account if you have a more yellow undertone.
Overall, I am a massive fan of this foundation, and I think lots of other people will be too. It's justa good all-round foundation! I would love to know if you have purchased a foundation recently and if you would recommend it!

4 polishes you need to buy!

I don't know about you, but I love looking at product empties. I think they are the most truthful way of seeing whether someone really did like a product. Today, I'm going show you the nail polishes that I've used up and need to stick back on my 'to repurchase' list...

If you've read my blog before, you might have gathered that I'm a slight hoarder. For me, products are also associated with memories, for example the first nail polish I bought myself was actually Essie's 'Naughty Nautical' (£7.99/13.5ml) in Summer 2013 when I was in the US. This polish is especially amazing for the summer months and an all year round toenail colour because it's a brighter sea-foam green colour. However, what makes it special is the subtle shimmer that runs through the formula and so glistens nicely in the sun. Essie formulas are great and so this was just an all-round product!
Another polish I have used up was 'So Much Fawn' (£4.99/14.7ml) by Sally Hansen. This colour was brilliant for catering to any type of occasion, from interviews to casual days. It's the perfect mid-tone pink, with a hint of coral and so looks amazing with a tan. Sally Hansen polishes have an awesome wide brush which means you can paint one nail in two strokes!

-

Chinchilly (£7.99/13.5ml) by Essie. Need I say more? This is a fan favourite because it's both edgy and neutral at the same time. Whoever thought that painting nails grey would look so good? The reason I love this Essie one is that it's the perfect tone of grey that it looks great with all skin-tones. The formula is also not too thick, nor too thin and dries super fast. What's not to love?
The last polish I am going to mention is one I have raved about every since I first tried it. The The Maybelline Super Stay Formula is one of the best I have ever tried in terms of longevity. This polish will seriously stay on your nails for a solid 5-6 days without chipping. It's bleeping crazy. The only catch is that you have to wait for it to dry properly, and so when I put this on, I'm probably on some kind of TV series binge. The colour I have used up, which is called Surreal (£4.49/10ml), is a vibrant purple that's just so wearable! I never thought that I would ever wear purple on my nails but this shade is just the perfect balance of wearing something different, without it looking like it's too much.

Is there any polishes that you would repurchase again? If so, then let me know! Be sure to subscribe on Bloglovin' so you don't miss any of my posts!

Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil - Worth the Splurge?

So about a month ago I got my hands on the very pricey Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil (£85.00, 50ml), and I've avoided sharing my thoughts on my blog because it's a product that I really did want to put to the test for a good amount of time so that I was positively sure of the verdict. So keep reading to find out my thoughts and whether it was worth the splurge...

The Product

The Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil has been out on the market for around a year now and it is a oil based retinol product. It's predominant ingredients include cold-pressed organic oils such as Avocado and Blue Tansy. Since this product contains retinol it aims to improve skin texture and firmness over time. Retinol increases the speed of cell turnover in the skin and that's how improvements can be seen in a shorter period of time.

The Application

When I first got my hands on this product I was so excited to use it. I suffer from uneven skin texture and that's something I have been trying to steadily improve. So after that night's skincare I applied 3 drop's of the Luna Oil into my hand, and pressed it into my skin. The next day I woke up and I was really disappointed, I didn't really notice much difference from the night before. After 3 days of this, I changed my application method, deciding to massage the oil into my skin rather than pressing it in. That's when I saw a noticeable difference - my skin felt firmer the next day and just looked better. So I would recommend massaging this oil into the skin!
Additionally, it was a bit disconcerting putting a blue oil on my face however once I massaged it in it wasn't noticeable, and neither were my sheets stained. Another thing that I was surprised about was the smell, it's not the most pleasant scent, smelling slightly herbal however once applied you tend noto to notice the smell!

The Results
Looking at my skin now, the texture has definitely improved in terms of smoothness - it's not back to normal though, but seems to be on the right track and this is only after 1 month. So I'm impressed that I can actually see a prominent difference. Another difference I can see is in the evenness of my skin-tone, and so the hyper-pigmentation left over from previous blemishes have become more faded. After one month, my skin looks better than it had before the use of this product, and so everything I had wanted from this product, it had been delivered.

The Verdict
If you have problems with skin texture then this is the product to buy to help with that issue. I would 100% recommend it to anyone suffering with bad skin texture. For hyper-pigmentation issues, there are cheaper products in the market targeted towards that and so I wouldn't necessarily buy this to combat that issue in particular. However, if you are like me and suffer from both hyper-pigmentation and also uneven skin texture then this product helps to improve both of these issues and is well worth the investment.
For the every day woman, who perhaps does not have these issues, I don't know whether I would buy this - why fix something that isn't broken you know. It will help everyone to have slightly more refined, firmer skin, but it depends if you are someone who is willing to pay £85 on a product like this. This product works for me, but then again, I have issues that make it more noticeable for changes to be seen. I think if I had 'normal' skin, I would probably stick to products like Kiehl's Midnight Recovery, that just aim to improve and replenish the skin, and so I wouldn't recommend the Luna Oil if you don't suffer from any textural or ageing issues.
